My name is Nicole Jones and I
am a 2006 graduate of Bloomsburg University. I have a degree in Secondary Education
Citizenship. I majored in both history and secondary education. I am passionate
about educating and am willing to go the extra mile to ensure my students' success.
I chose this field because I believe that your education is the most important
thing you will ever have. I love learning and try to pass that joy on to my
students, so that in the future they never stop trying to be a better citizen
and student.
I am 25 years old and have been substitute teaching for about a year and half
now in several school districts, and I also work full time on third shift. I
am interested in taking a more active role in the education of the students.
I am hoping to get a teaching job and stay in the area because my family lives
in Milton. I am interested in eventually getting my master's degree in a technology
education field, because I feel that technology adds greatly to the classroom
environment and the effectiveness of the teacher. I think that technology helps
to offer more ways for students to learn than traditional lecturing methods.
I believe that consistent classroom discipline policies also aid in the effectiveness
of a classroom. Rules and policies need to be discussed and posted clearly for
students, and then enforced as consistently as humanly possible in order to
earn respect and build a relationship with your students. If you do not enforce
rules consistently students begin to lose faith in you as a figure of authority
and your classroom will not be effective.
The purpose of this website is to be an
educational resource for both me and other teachers. For the moment it is a
portfolio of what I am capable of doing. In the future I want to post all my
notes, quizzes, and study guides on my site in case a student needs to miss
class. In that way it is easier for the student to make up their assignments.
I want other students and parents to be able to access important research materials,
examples of students' projects, and maps, as well as, other interactive resources
to enhance the learning experience for each student. I used it for this purpose
while student teaching and found it to be very effective.
